Antigua Sailing Week 2012

Three months of fantastic sailing and yacht racing – recharge, take a break, develop new skills, meet new friends and sail the beautiful waters of the Caribbean Islands.

Starting in February, this package is particularly suited to those who are looking for a break from a busy lifestyle, those who are considering a change of direction or looking for a new challenge. It is also perfect as part of a Gap year or sabbatical. It will provide you with nine weeks of sailing, travel and holiday onboard one of our four yachts. You will experience four fantastic yacht races and sail to Antigua, St Maarten, and the British Virgin Islands. The program starts at the end of February in Antigua with a week of race training before the Caribbean 600 race. This is a popular yacht race, which circumnavigates the Islands of the Caribbean.

Then you will sail to the neighbouring island of St Maarten for the Heineken Regatta, which is an action-packed week of regatta racing.

The BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing festival is in March. Set in the most idyllic location this regatta is famous for breathtaking scenery and its wonderful social post racing parties on the beach.

The finale of the year is the famous Antigua Sailing Week, which is a huge annual event that attracts yachts from all over the world to take part in an adrenaline fuelled and rum soaked regatta. With strong trade winds and bright blue skies the racing is fast and exhilarating and the after racing social entertainments do not disappoint with well organised parties and musical acts.

In between events there is plenty of time to relax and enjoy the beach, do sightseeing or take part in water sports activities such as diving and dinghy sailing. Throughout the nine weeks you will be living onboard one of our comfortable yachts and will be able to enjoy visiting different islands and discovering beautiful anchorages and bays.

Some sailing experience prior to joining is preferable but not essential, you will be coached by experienced and professional skippers and there will be plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and improve your sailing.
