RORC TrasAtlantic Race

This is the is the newest and lengthiest offshore race in the RORC programme. The 5th edition of the RORC TransAtlantic Race starts 24th November 2018 in Lanzarote and finishes 2995nm later in Port Louis Marina, Grenada.

The race has established itself as the definitive offshore transatlantic race bound for the Caribbean and attracts a competitive and diverse fleet of yachts ranging from 9 to 30 metres (30-100ft) in length and sailors from around the world.

With RORC focused on maintaining a safe and high quality race, crew must be able to prove offshore sailing experience, with a minimum of 50% of the crew having sailed 500nm offshore in the previous 18 months.

Starting on the last Sunday in November from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria and finishing in Rodney Bay, St Lucia, the 2,700 nautical mile passage on the north east tradewind is a safe and enjoyable way to cross the Atlantic. With more than 200 boats participating, the ARC is characterised by a tremendous camaraderie between all those taking part.

PYC has been sailing across the Atlantic annually with the ARC since 2009 and can ensure your crossing is everything you expect and more.

No previous ocean experience is required, as the professional crew will guide you through the sailing safely, but we do highly recommend that all the crew have assessed whether or not they enjoy sailing and have, at the very least, sailed overnight and away from the sight of land before the crossing.
