The passages to and from the Mediterranean and are great opportunities to build miles, gain confidence offshore or just spend a couple of weeks on a comfortable yacht under the guidance of a professional skipper.
Additionally, the passage from Malta to Gibraltar could be used as an Ocean Master qualifying passage. If you require this then please get in contact with us to start planning your passage!
Starting in Malta the passage out of the Mediterranean is 1100nm of sailing between the North African coast and the Balearic Islands. If the weather is favourable we will head to South Sardinia or North Sicily. From here it is onwards to the Straights of Gibraltar, the narrow stretch of water that separates Europe from Africa and provides the only link between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The final leg of the journey is 720nm to Gran Canarias, one of the seven major Canary Islands. The sand in the atmosphere from the Sahara causes stunning sunsets to cast along the horizon. In Las Palmas you will find many beautiful beaches, great surf spots and some mountainous scenery on the southern end of the Island.
Northern Child has completed these routes for the last 15 years and they have always proved to be a great experience for all. The trip can be divided in to 2 passages depending on how much time you have available and what type of sailing you prefer.
